GATEWAYCDI Case Study
CLIENT: International Software Firm
CHALLENGE: Develop a laptop computer bag used as customer gift.
The customers pay $2,000 to register for a user’s conference (training
convention). As part of their $2,000 entrance fee they receive
a bag as a gift. Perceived value of this bag must be in excess of $100
while actual cost had to be under $20.00. Bag to be completely
custom-built with client’s logo tastefully displayed. Quantity: 14,000.
BACKGROUND: This user’s conference has been taking place for more
than 15-years. Many of the customers attend each year. They are
accustomed to a great gift. The budget remains constant while
expectations continue to rise.
SOLUTION: GatewayCDI utilizes our Hong Kong office to develop a
custom-bag. We develop a wheeled backpack that can be carried in a wide
variety of ways. The bag features a sleeve in the back to hide the
backpack straps when not in use, custom zipper pulls, embroidered
decoration on front and back, separate bags inside for storage of
computer peripherals, heavy-duty hardware and an altogether “high-tech”
look.
BENEFITS:
- A very inexpensive bag with high perceived value
- Customers at the convention purchase more of the bags
- The client actually made money on sale of the “free” bag
- Happy customers!
